Managing Hazardous Substances
Learn how to Manage your Hazardous Substances and assign Material Safety Data Sheets
Hello and welcome to a Zero Harm tutorial.
Today we will be looking at the Hazardous substances area
The Hazardous Substances is an important area which shows all of your sites hazardous substances.
Hazardous substances can be accessed by logging into your account at Zeroharm.app
If you have not assigned anything to the hazardous substance register you will notice a message on your dashboard.
Because I have not yet assigned any hazardous substances, the dashboard mentions that I still need to complete this.
I can access the Hazardous substances by clicking on this link, alternatively I can access the hazardous substances from the main menu on the left hand side.
Open the Hazardous Substances Page now…..
Click Manage substances
Any hazardous substances that you have added will be listed here. At the moment we have no assigned substances. Please note that there is a difference between adding a hazard and assigning a hazard.
I will assign a added hazard by clicking on the substance of my choosing and clicking Save
I will now add a Hazardous Substance
Click “manage Substances” again and Click “Create Substance”
I will add Round Up as a Hazardous Substance and add any trade names.
A Material Safety Data Sheet also needs to be added this document contains information on the potential hazards and can be downloaded from the manufactures website. The best way to obtain a Material Safety Data sheet is to simply google it. We currently don’t store Material Data Sheets because of the sheer number of hazardous Substances in existence.
I will google the material data sheet for Round Up
Google has [pdf] next to results which link directly to the Safety Data sheet.
Open and Save to your computer
Return to the Hazardous Substances area and upload the file
You have now added the hazardous substance. Click on the check box and “Save” to apply the new hazardous substance
Excellent, your hazardous substance is now available to all contractors visiting your site.
