Adding custom Icons

Zero Harm has created a range of custom icons which you can use to represent various hazards on your hazards map. These are shared on your google drive account and the embedded video below explains how to access these.

Hello and welcome to a Zero Harm Tutorial,

In this video we will be looking at how to add custom icons to your hazard map.

Custom icons have been bespoke made for Zero Harm site users, they aim to replicate the hazards and fit your map in with the Zero Harm theme.

Custom icons are shared to your Gmail account on creation, so once you have access to making your site map the icons will be available.

To access your custom icons, first log into your map by editing it. This can be done by logging into the application at and clicking “Map of Hazards” on the left hand side.
Click Update map.

If you are not already logged into your Gmail you can do this by clicking the blue login in button at the top right of your screen.

Once you have logged in you will able to place, markers and draw lines.

It is important to note that custom icons can only be assigned to markers and not lines.

Click on a marker (or hazard)

We can update this icon by clicking on the paint bucket, this allows us to style a marker
Click “More Icons” on this new pop up box.

One the new window click “Custom Icon”

Click “Google Drive”

Ensure you select the “Shared with me” tab, this will bring up all files which are shared with you

We have shared a folder called “ZHF Icons”, please click on this to view your icons. If the ZHF Icons is not available, please contact us on
You can assign an icon by double click on it.

Your marker has now been updated with the new icon.

You will notice the next time you do this, google will remember your icon folder
